Richard et Cie, Paris: A Porcelain Panelled Carriage Clock
A Corniche-cased carriage clock by the well-known makers Richard et Cie of 32 Rue Bondy, Paris and London.

The eight-day duration movement has a platform lever escapement and strikes the hours and half-hours on a gong. The backplate is stamped with the RC Serpent trademark as used by Richard on their best clocks along with the serial number 539 and typical Richard hand-setting arrow design.

The dial has black Roman numerals, blued steel hands and is decorated with a pink & white floral design on a silvered ground. This pattern is repeated to the two side panels.

The Corniche case is fully engraved with a pattern reminiscent of those seen on other carriage clocks based on a design by the well-known engraver Charles Demengeot.
