Porcelain Painted Dial Carriage Clock

A French corniche cased carriage clock with fluted banding, the eight day movement having a platform lever escapement and striking the hours and half hours on a gong with push button repeat. The porcelain dial is painted with a fine scene of a couple out riding with their dog and has black Roman hour numerals, blued steel spade hands and is signed by the retailer 'Chas. Deprez of Bristol'.


Height: 6 inches.


Charles Deprez is recorded as both a clockmaker and retailer working at 30, Park Street, Bristol between 1850 and 1899 and possibly before, and also at 86, Park Street at some point up to 1900. He was born in 1817 at Wooton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire and his business continued after his death.
