Silber Light Company, An Unusual Oil Lamp Clock

An unusual oil lamp clock, the eight day movement is situated in the base and runs the white bowl which has black Roman numerals and is read via the pointer to the front, above which is the lamp wick and chimney. The clock itself depicts a French nobleman standing on a base holding the clock with his face and hands gilded. Made of spelter this is a quite rare piece made circa 1860.

The lamp itself is signed 'S.L.C. The Silber Light Company, London. Manufactured in France. Trade Mark entered at Stationers Hall'. The base of the case has cast into it 'S.F. Brevete, London, Paris'.
