A lovely quality French timepiece carriage clock contained in a 'corniche' case and having an eight day duration movement with a lever escapement. The frontplate is stamped with the initials 'H.L.' being those of Henri Lemaille one of the best makers of 'roulant blancs' of the period, he made movements for most of the top names especially Drocourt and Leroy and a relatively early clock by Bolviller has been found with his initials on the movement. Indeed the engraving to the backplate showing 'hands' and 'slow/fast' is identical to that on Drocourt carriage clocks as is the punch used for the numbering. The clocks serial number '5206' on the backplate is repeated on the frontplate and dialplate as well as to the underside of the case and the falseplate, along with the rear of the mask and in ink on the back of the dial. The case parts are also numbered '06' to match with the serial number. The underside of the platform is stamped with the initials of the escapement maker 'FR P' along with his serial number '6212'. The movement number '11083' is stamped on the inside of the frontplate. The white enamel dial has fine black Roman numerals, blued steel moon hands and a beautifully engine turned gilded mask.
