Decorative Carriage Clock

A quite lovely French striking carriage clock made circa 1890 with finely engraved and pierced side panels and dial in an Anglaise case. The eight day movement has a platform lever escapement and strikes the hours and half hours on a gong with a push button repeat to the top. The backplate is stamped with the clock serial number '23026', which is repeated to various parts of the case, whilst the inside of the movement is stamped with the movemnt serial number '8546'. The white enamel dial has black Roman numerals, blued steel spade hands and a finely fretted and engraved gilded mask and sight ring. The gilded brass case has beautifully detailed panels behind the glass to the sides.
