A lovely brass inlaid octagonal wall clock with an eight day timepiece fusee movement. The 9½ inch convex dial is signed 'Thos. Willman, Herne Hill' with the name repeated on the rear of the dial being the original dialmaker's instructions and has black Roman numerals, blued steel spade hands and a cast brass bezel. The drop to the case has a shaped glazed aperture through which the pendulum bob is visible, brass inlay and carved side ears.
Thomas Willman is recorded as working in Upper Sydenham, Kent just a few miles from Herne Hill from before 1874 with another Willman at Woolwich, Kent, again close to Herne Hill, around the same date. It is quite probable that they are all the same person who either moved to or lived at the various addresses.
